Privacy Policy

This policy covers the Obelisk app and obeliskaerospace.com, and reflects how the service works today. If anything changes, we'll post the update here and revise the date above.
The short version
Your flying stays on your device. Charts, procedures, plates, navigation data and flight planning are processed locally — there is no backend for your flights, routes or position to touch, and no account is required to fly. If you choose to create an account, we store only what we need to identify you and run your subscription.
What we collect
- Account data: your email address, an optional name, and a securely hashed password. Accounts are optional — the app's charts, procedures, plates and planning all work without one.
- Sign-in with Apple or Google: if you use one of those buttons, we store the stable account identifier that provider gives us and the email address it releases to us, so we can recognize you next time. We never receive your password for that provider. If you use Apple's Hide My Email, we only ever see the relay address Apple generates.
- Sessions: a random sign-in token, stored as a one-way hash on our server and in your browser or in the iOS Keychain, so you stay signed in. It expires after 30 days.
- Subscription data: your subscription status and billing period, mirrored from Stripe. Card details are handled by Stripe and never touch our servers.
- Interest signups: an email address if you ask to be notified about the release.
What the app collects
Charts, procedures, plates, the navigation database and all flight planning run locally on your device, and none of it is sent to us. The app contacts our servers for exactly one thing: your account — signing in, checking your subscription status, and deleting your account if you ask it to. If you never sign in, the app never talks to us at all.
We do not collect your position, your routes, your flights, your logbook or your notes. There is no analytics SDK, no advertising identifier and no third-party tracker in the app.
The app may fetch public data directly from third parties when you enable them — for example live ADS-B traffic or online weather — under those providers' own terms. These requests go straight from your device to the provider and are not routed through us. When you enable live traffic, the request to the traffic provider (airplanes.live) includes your current position so it can return nearby aircraft, but it carries nothing that identifies you — no account, device ID or cookie — so it cannot be tied back to you.
Payments
Subscriptions are processed by Stripe. Stripe acts as our payment processor and handles your card information under its own privacy policy. We receive only a customer identifier and your subscription status.
Data retention & your rights
You can delete your account at any time — in the app, under Settings → Account → Delete account, or on this site from your account page. Deleting removes your account, your sign-in sessions on every device, any linked Apple or Google identity, and your subscription records, and cancels any active subscription immediately. It takes effect straight away and cannot be undone.
Stripe retains its own record of completed payments, because invoices and tax records have their own legal retention period. That record is no longer linked to an account with us.
